Method & assumptions

Next service mileage = last service odometer + your chosen interval. Miles remaining = next service mileage − current odometer. Approximate months remaining = miles remaining ÷ annual miles × 12.

Mileage-based planning only. This does not select a maintenance interval, evaluate vehicle condition or override time-based service requirements, warning lights, severe-use schedules or manufacturer guidance. Projected driving is evenly distributed.

Distances are in miles. The interval is supplied by you, not recommended by this tool.

Behind the numbers

How the maintenance countdown calculation works

Next service mileage = last service odometer + your chosen interval. Miles remaining = next service mileage − current odometer. Approximate months remaining = miles remaining ÷ annual miles × 12.

A worked example

If the last service was at 45,000 miles and your chosen interval is 5,000 miles, the next target is 50,000 miles. At a current odometer of 48,000, that leaves 2,000 miles—about two months at 12,000 miles per year.

Maintenance countdown questions

Which interval should I use?

Use the applicable interval from your owner’s manual, maintenance schedule or service provider. The starting figures are examples, not recommendations for a particular vehicle.

What about services due by time rather than mileage?

This tool tracks mileage only. If your schedule says a time limit or mileage limit, whichever comes first, check both independently.

Does overdue mileage mean the vehicle is unsafe?

This tool cannot assess safety or condition. It only compares your odometer with the service target you entered. Contact your service provider about what is due.
