Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Recall: Rearview Camera Software

Chrysler is recalling 844,027 vehicles across the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands because the rearview camera image may not display when reverse is selected. Campaign 26V531000 covers certain 2026 vehicles and 2026–2027 Pacifica and Charger models, with the full vehicle list below. Loss of the rear image reduces the driver’s view and increases crash risk.

Radio software will be updated free of charge through a dealer or an over-the-air update. The manufacturer report limits the over-the-air route to vehicles where that option is capable and available. NHTSA’s current record says owner notification letters began mailing September 2, 2026; the campaign-wide remedy description does not guarantee the same update route for every VIN.

• Defect: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2026 Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Gladiator, Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, Ram Promaster, Ram Promaster EV, Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid, Chrysler Voyager, and 2026-2027 Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Charger vehicles. The rearview camera image may fail to display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, “Rear Visibility.”
• Safety consequence: A rearview camera image that fails to display reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
• Remedy: Radio software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning September 2, 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is 78D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov on August 20, 2026.

What owners should do next

Ask an authorized dealer or the manufacturer whether campaign 78D applies to your VIN and whether its radio update will be delivered over the air or installed at a dealer. Confirm completion for the individual vehicle rather than assuming a general software release completes the recall.
