Ford and Lincoln Recall: Transmission Damage and Rollaway Risk

Ford is recalling 741,195 vehicles because the transmission park pawl may engage while the vehicle is moving, damaging the park system and creating a rollaway risk. Campaign 26V402000 covers certain 2018–2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles, 2020–2021 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles, and 2021 Ford F-150 trucks. Repair and owner notification

According to NHTSA’s campaign record checked September 16, 2026, dealers will update the powertrain control module software and inspect and replace damaged transmission components as necessary, free of charge. The record says interim letters were mailed July 10, 2026; additional letters will be sent when the remedy is available, anticipated in April 2027. Ford’s campaign number is 26S48.

What owners should do

Until the recall repair is completed, Ford recommends always applying the electronic parking brake with the switch on the dashboard or console after shifting into Park. A matching make, model and year alone does not establish that an individual vehicle is affected.
