## Summary

Toyota recalls certain Tacoma, Tundra, RAV4 and 4Runner models because incorrect load labels can lead to overloading. Dealers will replace labels for free.

Toyota is recalling 135 potentially affected trucks and SUVs because a load-carrying-capacity modification label may understate the weight of installed accessories. A driver relying on that label could overload the vehicle and increase crash risk. The affected model years differ across Tacoma, Tundra, RAV4 and 4Runner variants. NHTSA identifies the campaign as [26V571000](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2026/RCLRPT-26V571-0598.pdf).

## What the official recall record says

### Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, RAV4 and 4Runner: load-capacity labels

The manufacturer’s report attributes the problem to accessory-weight data-entry errors. The remedy is replacement of the load-carrying-capacity modification label at no charge. Owner notification is planned from October 18 through November 1, 2026. The recall is limited to the vehicles identified in the campaign, rather than every example of these Toyota model lines.

**Official record**

- **NHTSA recall ID:** 26V571000
- **Vehicles listed:** Toyota Tacoma Hybrid (2024); Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid (2025); Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, 4Runner and 4Runner i-Force Max Hybrid (2026)
- **Potentially affected:** 135
- **Components:** EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS
- **Report received:** September 2, 2026
- **Owner notification:** Letters are expected from October 18, 2026; the Part 573 report lists a planned October 18–November 1 mailing window.
- **Defect:** Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid, 2025 Tundra Hybrid, Tundra, 2026 RAV4 Hybrid, 4Runner i-Force Max Hybrid, and 4Runner vehicles. The load carrying capacity modification label may display inaccurate added weight values. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
- **Safety consequence:** A vehicle with an incorrect maximum capacity weight value may be overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash.
- **Remedy:** Dealers will replace the load carrying capacity modification label, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 18, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 26TA18.

## What owners should do next

Contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 and reference 26TA18 to confirm whether your vehicle needs the corrected load label. Ask Toyota or your dealer for the applicable load information for your vehicle while arranging the replacement.

Tacoma Hybrid owners should also review the [separate shock-reservoir recall](/articles/safety-recall-26v514000/) and check each campaign independently by VIN.

Use the [official NHTSA recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) with your VIN to check individual recall status. A model-year listing alone does not confirm that a specific vehicle is affected or still needs repair.

The manufacturer’s Part 573 filing linked above was submitted September 2, 2026. It records the filing at that date; later notification and remedy-status updates are identified from the current campaign data.
