- Potentially affected: 201,976

> Official recall facts are attributed to NHTSA. The surrounding summary and owner guidance are RecallWire editorial work. A campaign or model match does not confirm an individual vehicle’s recall or repair status; use the [official NHTSA VIN lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls).

Jeep is recalling 201,976 potentially affected SUVs because a software error can prevent detection of low tire pressure or keep the tire-pressure warning light from illuminating. The campaign includes certain Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Cherokee variants, with different model-year ranges for each. NHTSA identifies the campaign as [26V559000](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2026/RCLRPT-26V559-2706.pdf).

## What the official recall record says

### Jeep SUVs: tire-pressure monitoring software

A missing low-pressure warning can leave a driver unaware of underinflated tires and increase crash risk. Dealers will update the radio frequency hub software at no charge. The manufacturer’s report schedules owner notification from September 29 through October 21, 2026; these are planned mailing dates, not evidence that letters have already been sent.

**Official record**

- **NHTSA recall ID:** 26V559000
- **Vehicles listed:** Jeep Wagoneer (2024–2025); Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Cherokee 4xe and Grand Wagoneer (2024–2026); Wagoneer L (2025); Grand Wagoneer L (2025–2026); Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer L PHEV (2026)
- **Potentially affected:** 201,976
- **Components:** TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS
- **Report received:** September 1, 2026
- **Owner notification:** Letters are expected to begin September 29, 2026; the Part 573 report lists a planned September 29–October 21 mailing window.
- **Defect:** Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer, 2024-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2025 Jeep Wagoneer L, 2025-2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, 2026 Jeep Cherokee, and Jeep Grand Wagoneer L PHEV vehicles. Due to a software error, the tire pressure monitoring system may fail to detect low tire pressure and/or fail to illuminate the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring System."
- **Safety consequence:** A TPMS warning light that fails to notify the driver of low tire pressure increases the risk of a crash.
- **Remedy:** Dealers will update the radio frequency hub software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning September 29, 2026. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 54D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 9, 2026.

## What owners should do next

Contact FCA US at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall 54D to confirm your SUV’s eligibility and software-update arrangements. Use the model-year list below as a guide, then confirm the individual vehicle by VIN.

RecallWire’s [Jeep TPMS analysis](/articles/industry-2026-09-11-jeep-s-201-976-vehicle-tpms-recall-is-a-software-test/) explains why the software warning failure remains a meaningful safety issue.

Use the [official NHTSA recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) with your VIN to check individual recall status. A model-year listing alone does not confirm that a specific vehicle is affected or still needs repair.
