Volvo Trucks is recalling 2,071 vehicles because the center roof marker lights may fail to illuminate, reducing visibility and increasing crash risk. Campaign 26V513000 covers certain 2026–2027 VNL (4) trucks and 2027 VNR (4) trucks. These are the vehicle-year entries in the current NHTSA record and the report listing 2,071 vehicles.

## What the recall means for owners

### VOLVO: VNL (4), VNR (4)

Dealers will replace the center roof marker light free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected October 5, 2026. The current vehicle entries list the VNR (4) for 2027 only, even though the API’s broad narrative refers collectively to 2026–2027 VNL and VNR vehicles.

**Official record — checked September 16, 2026**

- **NHTSA recall ID:** 26V513000
- **Vehicles listed:** VOLVO VNL (4) (2027, 2026); VOLVO VNR (4) (2027)
- **Potentially affected:** 2,071
- **Components:** EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- **Report received:** August 6, 2026

- **Defect:** Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2026-2027 VNL (4) and VNR (4) vehicles. The center roof marker lights may fail to illuminate. Our guide to [checking a vehicle with NHTSA](/blog/nhtsa-how-to-use-the-official-vehicle-recall-source/) explains the difference between a model-level search and an individual VIN check, including when to ask the manufacturer to clarify coverage.

Use the [official NHTSA recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) or contact the manufacturer or an authorized dealer to confirm recall status for your vehicle’s VIN. A matching model and year alone do not establish that a vehicle is included or that its repair is complete.
