## Summary

Rivian recalls 3,829 R1S and R1T vehicles from 2025–2026 for front turn signals that may fail. The recall expands an earlier turn-signal campaign.

## At a glance

- Manufacturer: RIVIAN
- Vehicle: R1S
- NHTSA campaigns: 26V508000
- Potentially affected: 3,829

> Official recall facts are attributed to NHTSA. The surrounding summary and owner guidance are RecallWire editorial work. A campaign or model match does not confirm an individual vehicle’s recall or repair status; use the [official NHTSA VIN lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls).

Rivian is recalling 3,829 R1S and R1T vehicles from model years 2025–2026 because one or both front turn signals may fail to illuminate and flash. Nonfunctioning turn signals increase crash risk. Campaign 26V508000 expands the earlier recall 25V387.

## What the recall means for owners

### RIVIAN: R1S, R1T

Rivian will inspect the front turn signals and replace them as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected September 29, 2026. The official record identifies the expanded campaign as FSAM-1833; an earlier recall notice alone does not establish the current status of a particular VIN.

**Official record — checked September 16, 2026**

- **NHTSA recall ID:** 26V508000
- **Vehicles listed:** RIVIAN R1S (2026, 2025); RIVIAN R1T (2026, 2025)
- **Potentially affected:** 3,829
- **Components:** EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL
- **Report received:** August 6, 2026
- **Owner notification:** Owner notification letters expected to be mailed September 29, 2026.
- **Defect:** Rivian Automotive, LLC (Rivian) is recalling certain 2025-2026 R1S and R1T vehicles. One or both front turn signals may fail to illuminate and flash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- **Safety consequence:** Turn signals that do not function properly increase the risk of a crash.
- **Remedy:** Rivian will inspect and replace the front turn signals as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 29, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1833. This is an expansion of Recall 25V387. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov on August 31, 2026.

## What owners should do next

Contact Rivian service about FSAM-1833 and ask whether your VIN is included in the expanded campaign, especially if you received information about 25V387. Rivian customer service is 1-888-748-4261.

R1S and R1T owners should also review the [separate Rivian rear-visibility software recall](/articles/safety-recall-26v597000/) and check each campaign independently by VIN.

Use the [official NHTSA recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) or contact the manufacturer or an authorized dealer to confirm recall status for your vehicle’s VIN. A matching model and year alone do not establish that a vehicle is included or that its repair is complete.
