Tesla is recalling 20,349 vehicles because their low-beam headlights may exceed the permitted maximum light output. Campaign 26V507000 covers certain 2017–2023 Model 3 and 2020–2023 Model Y vehicles. Excessively bright low beams can reduce visibility for oncoming drivers and increase crash risk.

## What the recall means for owners

### TESLA: MODEL 3, MODEL Y

The remedy remains under development in the current NHTSA record and the September 1 amended report. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 3, 2026. Tesla identifies this campaign as SB-24-17-003.

## What owners should do next

Check with Tesla for campaign 26V507000 and service reference SB-24-17-003. Do not assume that a software update or headlight replacement has been approved as the remedy while the official record still says it is under development.

Use the [official NHTSA recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) or contact the manufacturer or an authorized dealer to confirm recall status for your vehicle’s VIN. A matching model and year alone do not establish that a vehicle is included or that its repair is complete.
