International recall 26V459000 covers certain 2026-2027 HV trucks and 2021 and 2023-2027 MV trucks. A battery interconnect cable can touch nearby hardware and cause a short circuit, increasing the risk of fire. NHTSA lists 15,628 potentially affected vehicles. International advises affected owners to park outdoors until the remedy can be performed; its September interim notice says final-remedy parts availability is not yet known.

## Which vehicles are included?

- **International HV:** 2026–2027
- **International MV:** 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027

These are the model-year groups listed for the campaign; only certain vehicles within them are affected.

- **NHTSA recall ID:** 26V459000
- **Potentially affected:** 15,628
- **Initial report received:** July 16, 2026.

## Why the recall matters

A short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

The [official recall report](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2026/RCLRPT-26V459-1556.pdf) provides the vehicle and defect details.

## Repair and owner notification

International advises affected owners to park outdoors until the remedy can be performed. Its interim owner letter describes a no-cost dealer inspection and any necessary adjustment while final-remedy parts availability remains unknown. An interim inspection does not replace the final remedy. NHTSA says interim safety-risk letters were mailed September 8, 2026 and another notice will follow when the remedy is available. Vehicles repaired under earlier recall 25V534 still require the new remedy.

**Owner notification:** Interim safety-risk letters mailed September 8, 2026. Owners will receive another notice when the final remedy becomes available.

## What owners should do

International advises affected owners to park outdoors until the remedy can be performed. Contact an International dealer about the no-cost interim inspection described in the [official interim owner letter](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2026/RIONL-26V459-7358.pdf). That inspection does not replace the final recall remedy. Vehicles repaired under earlier campaign 25V534 still need this new remedy. Use the [official NHTSA VIN recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) and your dealer to check your vehicle.

## September 16, 2026 update

Added International’s park-outdoors advice and interim inspection guidance. NHTSA now reports September 8 interim letters; final-remedy parts availability remains unconfirmed.

[Current NHTSA campaign data for 26V459000](https://api.nhtsa.gov/recalls/campaignNumber?campaignNumber=26V459000), checked September 16, 2026, supports the current campaign status above. The linked manufacturer report records the filing at its submission date.
