# Ford Mustang and Mustang GTD Recall: Wiper and Washer Problems

## Summary

Ford recalls 2024–2026 Mustang and 2025–2026 Mustang GTD vehicles for cold-weather wiper and washer problems. See the free inspection and repair.

## At a glance

- Manufacturer: FORD
- Vehicle: MUSTANG
- NHTSA campaigns: 26V418000
- Potentially affected: 67,842

> Official recall facts are attributed to NHTSA. The surrounding summary and owner guidance are RecallWire editorial work. A campaign or model match does not confirm an individual vehicle’s recall or repair status; use the [official NHTSA VIN lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls).

Ford is recalling 67,842 vehicles because, in certain cold temperatures, the windshield wipers may work only at high speed and the washer system may not work properly. Campaign 26V418000 covers certain 2024–2026 Ford Mustang and 2025–2026 Mustang GTD vehicles. Reduced visibility from these problems can increase crash risk.

## Which vehicles are included?

- **Ford Mustang:** 2024–2026
- **Ford Mustang GTD:** 2025–2026

These are the model-year groups listed for the campaign; only certain vehicles within them are affected.

- **NHTSA recall ID:** 26V418000
- **Potentially affected:** 67,842
- **Initial report received:** June 30, 2026.

## Why the recall matters

Windshield wipers or a washing system that fails to function as intended can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The [official recall report](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2026/RCLRPT-26V418-2570.pdf) provides the vehicle and defect details.

## Repair and owner notification

According to NHTSA’s campaign record checked September 16, 2026, dealers will inspect the wiper motor and replace it as necessary, free of charge. The record says owner notification letters were mailed August 11, 2026. Ford’s campaign number is 26C32. Owners should contact their dealer for vehicle-specific repair availability.

**Owner notification:** Owner notification letters mailed August 11, 2026, according to the current NHTSA campaign record.

## What owners should do

Use the [official NHTSA VIN recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) and contact the manufacturer or an authorized dealer to confirm whether this campaign applies to your vehicle and what service is available. A matching make, model and year alone does not establish that an individual vehicle is affected.

Mustang owners should also review the [separate wiring and drive-power recall](/articles/safety-recall-26v547000/) and check each campaign independently by VIN.

## September 16, 2026 update

Updated the owner-notification and repair summary using NHTSA’s current campaign record, which reports an August 11 mailing. The earlier March 2027 forecast is no longer presented as the current schedule.

[Current NHTSA campaign data for 26V418000](https://api.nhtsa.gov/recalls/campaignNumber?campaignNumber=26V418000), checked September 16, 2026, supports the current campaign status above. The linked manufacturer report records the filing at its submission date.
