Ford is recalling 66,383 vehicles because a software error may prevent pedestrian warning sounds at certain speeds, increasing the risk of injury to pedestrians. Campaign 26V415000 covers certain 2025–2027 Ford Explorer Hybrid and 2024–2027 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid vehicles. It expands recall 25V691, and vehicles repaired under that earlier recall require the new remedy.

## Which vehicles are included?

- **Ford Explorer Hybrid:** 2025–2027
- **Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid:** 2024–2027

These are the model-year groups listed for the campaign; only certain vehicles within them are affected.

- **NHTSA recall ID:** 26V415000
- **Potentially affected:** 66,383
- **Initial report received:** June 30, 2026.

## Why the recall matters

A vehicle that does not produce a warning sound may fail to alert pedestrians of an approaching vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

The [official recall report](https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2026/RCLRPT-26V415-6798.pdf) provides the vehicle and defect details.

## Repair and owner notification

NHTSA’s campaign record checked September 16, 2026 describes a free over-the-air update or dealer APIM software update. Dealers will also replace the digital signal processing module in Nautilus Hybrid vehicles with 28 speakers. The remedy is being made available in phases based on model and model year. The record says owner notification letters were mailed August 7, 2026. Ford’s campaign number is 26S51.

**Owner notification:** Owner notification letters mailed August 7, 2026, according to the current NHTSA campaign record.

## What owners should do

Use the [official NHTSA VIN recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) and contact the manufacturer or an authorized dealer to confirm whether this campaign applies to your vehicle and what service is available. A matching make, model and year alone does not establish that an individual vehicle is affected.

## September 16, 2026 update

Updated the remedy details to explain phased availability and the additional module replacement for 28-speaker Nautilus Hybrid vehicles. NHTSA reports owner letters were mailed August 7.

[Current NHTSA campaign data for 26V415000](https://api.nhtsa.gov/recalls/campaignNumber?campaignNumber=26V415000), checked September 16, 2026, supports the current campaign status above. The linked manufacturer report records the filing at its submission date.
